Summary

Greet, assist, and orient visitors as well as large groups with an emphasis in customer service. Open, close, maintain, and assist in cleaning of exhibits and galleries. Floor Staff will lead and assist in implementation and presentation of educational materials and educational curriculum as needed. 

Responsibilities

• Know and acknowledge appropriate museum procedures and policies. Respond quickly to visitor questions, concerns, and possible first aid needs.
• Maintain cleanliness of costumes, uniforms, and bug cases.
• Perform minor exhibit/gallery repairs and notify Supervisor of larger needs.
• Maintain cleanliness on the exhibit floor throughout the day.
• Provide orientation, discussing floor layout and rules, to visiting groups.
• Setup for presentation of specific programs and birthday parties.
• Provide additional staff members with break/lunch break coverage.
• Assist in preparing museum for opening and closing.
• Provide friendly and informed customer service to our visitors.
• Attend staff meetings as scheduled.
• Demonstrate cooperative behavior and attitude with co-workers and supervisors.
• Other responsibilities as required.

Job Qualifications

• Minimum of high school diploma or GED
• Experience in a customer service environment encouraged
• Friendly, outgoing personality and must enjoy working with children and families
• Thrive on working in a fast-paced environment with a wide variety of job responsibilities and demands
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and relate effectively to a wide variety of individuals
• Ability to provide excellent customer service in all situations
• Experience with cash handling a plus
• Able to work both independently and in cross-functional teams and solve problems creatively
